Krysteena Allogio

Krysteena Alloggio is a graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology Master’s Program at Brooklyn College/CUNY. She co-authored a poster involving native English speaker’s perception of foreign accents, which she presented at the 2016 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Speech and Hearing Science from Brooklyn College/CUNY. Krysteena is interested in the comprehension of figurative language in individuals diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Also, she plans to pursue research on how mental imagery is related to the comprehension of idioms in people with autistic traits. She intends to pursue a doctorate at the completion of her master’s degree.

Melissa Calandra

Melissa Calandra is an undergraduate student in the speech-language pathology and audiology program at Brooklyn College. She is interested in the relationship between language and cognition and in understanding how the importance of heritage language impacts an individuals’ upbringing. Melissa is currently working on co-authoring a manuscript on language and immigration. She intends to apply to master’s programs in speech-language pathology at the completion of her bachelor’s degree.

Yuliya Navichkova

Yuliya Navichkova holds a BA in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, and Teaching from Minsk State Linguistic University, and a BA in Speech Language Pathology from Brooklyn College, CUNY. She is fluent in Russian and has basic knowledge of Spanish and French. Her interests in communication disorders and underserved populations led her to pursue her MS in Speech Language Pathology at Brooklyn College, CUNY to become a bilingual speech-language pathologist. She hopes to pursue her PhD in the future. Yuliya’s prior research was focused on native English speaker’s perception of foreign accents, which she co-authored and presented at the 2016 ASHA Convention. Her research interests include language comprehension in individuals with autistic traits. Also, she hopes to conduct studies on culturally diverse and underrepresented populations that would have practical application in client care.
